I'll Get Word to Work!

Today I gave an absolutely amazing concert!!! To myself... In the shower... Well, I thought it was amazing (definitely a much higher standard than my normal shower singing). Here's how it went:

First off came the normal warm up songs which were a little shaky but by the end were sounding pretty good.
Then came the show tunes which I sang with slightly less enthusiasm as I realized that they would be stuck in my head for weeks to come. Nonetheless, they all sounded amazing and I'm pretty sure that I'm ready for Broadway. You know, if they ever have a show that doesn't require ENORMOUS amounts of talent...
After that were all those Charlie the Unicorn songs that are annoying but make you feel like you're high so you sing them anyway.
What happened next is the reason why you aren't supposed to stay in the shower too long.
Somebody eventually has to go to the bathroom and they flush which leaves you jumping out of the shower with third degree burns and girlish screams protruding from your pie hole. Of course after that I got back in and gave my grand finale as well as two standing ovations.

~The End~

When's the last time that you've given a full-on concert in the shower? Chances are that it's been too long and that after reading this post you'll want to just rip your clothes off and jump in the shower and sing until your lungs burst! Feel more than welcome to do that. In fact, it's encouraged.

-Defying Gravity-

P.S. Here's a list of songs with the lyrics for you to sing along with that were included in my sketches:

Disclaimer: I (Raine Countryman) strongly discourage and will not be held responsible for any lungs that may happen to burst from singing.

Word's still broke...

The last day of Vacation Bible School was amazing! Here's a little riddle for you: What do you get when you have four pies, three pitchers of semi-solid Jello, a couple hundred sprinkles, three bags of powdered sugar, one pastor and a ton of kids anxious to chuck jumbo marshmallows at him? Give up? You get something a bit like this:

And then this:

Which starts to look a bit like this:

Then of course this:

And ends looking like this:

Sooo... yeah. Very fun and productive way to finish off VBS.

-`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves. Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, and the mome raths outgrabe.-
The thing about Word not starting is that you don't get the font that you usually use for the heading

Good news everybody! Off topic: Kudos to you if you get the geekish reference I opened up with today. Back on topic: Today my amazing friend Cheylynn started a blog (link here) and I would like all of everybody (yes all two of you) that reads my blog to go check it out. Pleeeaaassseee! She just did her first vlog and it's really good. Especially considering that it was her first try. She'll get better of course and as of yet I've never came to be disappointed with anything that she's ever tried at. So get over there and support her! In other news: One more day of VBS! Today everybody was exhausted but the kids all participated really well (group leaders tried to stay awake as well). Here's a video of everybody trying to stay awake through the singing!
You can't really tell but we were all really tired and the singing that you hear is mostly from the kids in the recording that the real kids are singing along to. Tomorrow will be extra fun though because all of the kids that brought a friend this last week get to do something mean to the pastor. Mwahahahahahahahaha!!! Ahem.... So anyways, VBS = Amazing and fun, In a Starburst's Life = Amazing and interesting. I need to get to bed. Don't want to be asleep for the last day of VBS tomorrow.

-And one last question: Which came first, the chicken or the Omelet? It was the penguin.-

The Thing about School

I'm going to be switching schools this year and I'm kind of nervous freaking out about it as it finally set in that I won't be going to the same high school that I did last year (besides for Band). I'm kind of plunging into this new experience on my own. I mean, I know people that go there but whenever I've switched schools (excluding moving out of state in grade school) I've always had friends that were going with me but I'm making this transition completely and totally by myself. It would be absolutely AMAZING for a certain somebody *hint hint* to put in an application. I'm very excited that I get to be with some of my favorite people this year though. I guess I'm excited because of the independence that this school's supposed to give me in the sense that I can work at my own pace and don't even have to be in class but it's always nice to have people who are making the transitions along with you. Oh well. I don't even want to be very involved in social aspects of school. Fun Fact: My absolute least favorite thing about school in all of my ten years of it is when I have to play in pep-band during sports for a band grade. It's like I'm being forced to be social and waste a couple hours of my time to play for a team that hasn't won any games all season. I think that pep-band and cheerleaders should be privileges for the players. If they don't give the school anything to be peppy about they shouldn't have people being peppy for them. Quite frankly I always think that cheering for the other team would be more productive than distracting ours. Especially this year when I'll be playing for a school that I don't even attend other than band, and only then because the new one doesn't technically have one. I'm determined to get my letter for band this year because I'm not so sure (practically positive) that I want to do something else and don't want to waste six years on it without taking something from it. I love playing, just not necessarily in band class... Aaaahhhh!!! I'm going to be an upperclassman (that's all one word according to spell-check) year!!! Two more years and then college or something. I think that I would love to spend the rest of my life as a starving artist. I've spent a lot of time being depressing through this post so now a list of happy things:
1: Bakersfield, CA.
2: Coffee shops (particularly Green Plow).
3: Doing homework with friends in said coffee shops.
4: Fall (Summer wins by default for getting me out of school but Fall's a runner up).
5: Rain (as in the wet kind that falls from the sky).
6: Not falling wet from the sky and splattering all over the place while kids jump in my leftover remains.
7: Teapots.
8: Tea (If you ever forget that it's my birthday and find it necessary to buy me a gift then I'll except tea without question).
9: Hats!
10: Being genuinely excited for the first time about starting school!

The Thing about VBS

In less than an hour I'll be leading a group of ten-to-twelve-year-olds at VBS (Vacation Bible School). Basically what it is, is a Bible based couple-hours-a-day Summer camp type thing and I get to lead the older kids group! This means that I get to make them hyper and gittery and all pumped up so that they can CRUSH participate actively against the other groups there then make their parents wish they hadn't sent them later on when they go home. For the first day I'm letting them use war paint because everyone "participates" more "actively" with war paint. I wonder how many kids I'm going to have... I didn't even think about the possibility of being stuck with more than ten kids but the VBS last year had a heck of a ton more kids than that. Oh well, I'm sure that it'll be fun. I have to go so I'll finish this post when I get back home.
TTFN!
Almost four hours later and I'm back home. VBS was... interesting... I lead the group called the Space Cadets (Space theme) and I only had three kids (insert imaginary angry face here) and if that's not bad enough they were all related to me. We had fun but I hope people start bringing friends so I have more kids. Also, there aren't too many things to be competitive about with the other teams which is a bit disappointing... We sung songs and then we went to play our game for the day which was that we had to throw frisbees (asteroids) and try to knock over cones (spaceships). After that we made a craft which was a popcorn box wrapped in tin foil and decorated to look like a robot. After that we memorized a bible verse and then we ate snacks. Then came the fun part! All the leaders took our groups and went into the auditorium where there was "Space Man" waiting to dull two lucky kids with light sabers. The two kids who were chosen beat the crap out of Space Man! Hopefully someone from my group's chosen tomorrow. Well, I suppose I need to go do something more productive than sending my thoughts into nowhere for random somebodies to possibly stumble upon.

The Thing about Wrecks

I've been reading Cake Wrecks now for almost a year and never cease to be amused at the posts that end up on their blog. The blog is devoted to cakes made by professional bakers who's attempts at baking often lead to hilarity in the eyes of the authors of the blog, Jen and John Yates (with the help of Jen Dorsman and Anne-Marie Carrier). Anywho, today I stumbled upon this little gem on their site:

Official advertisement for this nifty little product can be found here. If you have time make sure to check out the blog for daily posts on all fails cake related.

The Thing about F-U-N

You know, sometimes it's okay to have fun. So much fun that you could die on your way home from having fun and have absolutely no regrets simply because you had so much fun that day. That day for me was today. I had an amazing time! First we went to Denny's and I ordered this breakfast burger type thing. It was a cheeseburger that had bacon, hash browns and eggs on top of it (I got it without eggs). Off topic for a moment: I haven't had an egg in almost a year now because I always think about the bay chick that wasn't born and now I'm sitting here eating it. That's kind of like eating a chicken fetus... I almost got just egg-whites (because that was an option) but then right on the menu directly underneath the picture of the burger was a disclaimer stating that the eggs may or may not be cooked all the way and that the restaurant wasn't responsible for any illnesses that came from eating under-cooked eggs. Call me picky but I thought that was a little gross. Back on topic: The burger was so ginormous that I couldn't even fit a bite in my mouth and had to cut it and eat it with my fork. I only finished half of it and my cousin and sister ate the other half after finishing their food.

After breakfast we went and bought souvenirs and such. I think that the reason that they're so expensive is because during the Winter when there aren't tourist the shop owners still have to pay bills and none of the people who live there are going to pay for a fifteen dollar shot glass just because it says, "Pismo Beach, CA", on it. Sort of like stocking nuts for the Winter I suppose. So after that we went to the beach and played in the water which to my surprise was actually a bit warm. Well, I suppose everything's warm when your body goes numb from the cold... I made a sand castle!!! It turned out amazing and was the best sand castle that I've ever made. After that we got lunch. Interesting fact about me: I don't like sea food. It drives my dad insane when we go to the beach and I order a burger but there's just something about it that I hate unless it's swimming in lemon (*buh dump ching*). Luckily I was with my grandparents. Not that I got a burger. I got soup because I was cold. Then we went to Moro Bay and made more sand castles which turned out better than the one previously mentioned but before I dug a moat the tide came in and we had to leave. We got some salt water taffy and bought some shells and then we came home. Good day...
Question: What's the funnest thing that you've ever done in your LIFE?
